| Denver Academy of Torah has a focus on both modern Hebrew as well as classical Judaic texts. In the
earlier grades, the focus is based on modern principles of language acquisition and
Jewish concepts and values. Upper grades emphasize Hebrew reading, writing and
comprehension skills. Throughout the program, there is an emphasis on fluency in
modern Hebrew and on developing a strong bond with Israel. Teachers
from Israel have traditionally been among the school's full-time faculty. |
The intensity of Jewish studies at DAT requires advanced levels of sequential and
critical thinking. The students' Judaic studies raise their moral awareness and ethical
consciousness. Judaic topics include classic Jewish texts of the Torah, the Prophets,
Commentaries, the Talmud, Jewish law and customs and Jewish history. Daily
prayer enriches the lives of our students both at school and at home. DAT provides
individualized instruction for students who require assistance to bring their Judaic studies
to the appropriate level. |

The Jewish concept of , or the teaching of
values, is incorporated into activities in each
grade level. The program teaches the values of
respect, kindness, compassion, generosity and
sharing. The program is embedded in the
Jewish work of , or repairing the
world. Our students come to understand
the multitude of needs in the world, as well
as how one single act of kindness can make
a difference. The program also
dictates the expectations for how children
interact with others, and helps to ensure that those
expectations are met. |
